Emily's Baby Shower Cake

Our neighbors are having a little girl in about 2 weeks and we were blessed to be a part of their baby shower this past weekend. The whole family went and we had a great time. Ian was the MVP of the baby relay race. Our neighbor Bill practically poured a jar of applesauce down his throat and they won the race in record time. All the while Ian was wearing a pink bib that said "cute as a button!" That's my man and that's why I love him!

I made the cake and cupcakes for the shower. I was envisioning a pastel pink cake with a white bow, but when I opened the fondant (frosting that I liken to edible play-do) I was in for a little bit of a shock. It was hot pink! Even with that surprise the cake turned out really well, I loved it! Amelia told me it was beautiful and Amanda (the mom) truly loved it- and that was the point after all. It even matched her outfit as you can see in the pictures. The party count was around 50 so I also made 3 dozen cupcakes to compliment the cake. I wasn't up for making 2 cakes, my arms might have fallen off!

Happy Baby Shower sweet Baby Emily!

3 dozen cupcakes

Ta Da! (side note- Fondant, for the most part, tastes gross. Imagine edible play-do, that's pretty much what it tastes like. So even though the cake looks cool I really don't like the taste of it- it's a pity really!)

That turned out GREAT Erin!!! I love it! I wondered what fondant tastes like, good to know it's kinda like edible play dough! You did a fabulous job, and the color is awesome! :)

That cake is gorgeous! I didn't know that fondant tastes so bad, so I guess you just eat around it? It's beautiful though, you did a great job!
