Amelia gets a great magazine called Clubhouse Jr. thanks to her Grandma Mary and Grandpa Lee. This past issue had a great craft/gift in it. So, with all 4 girls at the house today I thought it'd be a fun project for Father's Day this Sunday. We had a great time making these cards, even Emery did a little bit of hers! All I had to buy was the craft sticks, so $3 for 5 cards and 30 minutes of craft time (including coloring the envelopes).
What you need for each one:
9 Jumbo wooden craft sticks (3/4 inch by 6 inch)
clear tape
scissors
4x6 inch photo printed on paper (I used regular printer paper, next time I might try card stock)
white glue
books
X-Acto knife
envelope
- Line up 9 sticks side by side
- Attach a piece of tape across all 9 sticks, two rows at top and bottom
- Turn sticks over
- Trim photo to fit across ALL sticks and carefully glue down. Press between 2 books to dry.
- When picture if dry, turn it over and remove tape from back
- A grown-up can carefully run an X-Acto knife between sticks to cut paper and create each puzzle piece.
- Mix up pieces and put in a decorated envelope for Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, etc!!!
