OK- no laughing. Well, maybe a little snickering is allowed. If you find yourself laughing out loud this may not be the post for you :) I've decided to try and get myself organized when it comes to what I do in a week. The idea started when I looked at Simple Mom's downloads. She has a Daily Docket that inspired this idea for me. I can't comprehend doing a daily thing, so I decided a week at a glance was more my speed. Ian came up with the clever name (I think it's clever).
So what's the point? I have always had "to do lists" and am pretty good at checking things off of this list. However, there's more to life than a to do list and I found myself driven by that more than I wanted to be. So, this is way more than a to do list for me (but it of course includes that element).
At the top are the M.I.Ts- Most Important Things. These are things I want to do in the week that aren't really "things." They have more to do with spending time with people, investing in others, and living life. You'll see on my filled in one for this week I listed, "read 10 books to Amelia." I can keep track of how many books we've read and it reminds me how important it is to spend this quality time with her.
Next to M.I.Ts. is a place for Scripture. The High School students are being challenged to memorize a verse or two each week so that's what going in this spot for now. Normally I would shoot for a verse a month, but I'm trying to hang with the students!
Then the grid, which includes the date, my dinner menu plan, my workout schedule, and any special schedule notes. For example: Amelia does not have school on Monday which changes our day quite a bit so I added that note.
The bottom half is the "to do list." Some items are standard things I do that I need a reminder for (ex: Cylinder prep). Others are seasonal (ex: Christmas Prep). By the way, I'm using the schedule from Simple Mom (do you see a pattern here?).
I also add my weekly cleaning items to this. I developed a cleaning schedule that includes weekly, monthly, and yearly things. Some of you may never come to my home again because of my schedule and the infrequency with which things get cleaned, but I'm hoping it works for me :) I do not enjoy cleaning on a regular basis, so I'm hoping this gets me in the habit. I have seen other cleaning schedules and they just have too much, well cleaning, on them for me! Obviously I'm going to clean something if it's dirty, but if it's not dirty it can wait until it's on the Geek Week plan.
Special note: notice that I have a "to do" line for Ian. Some of the things I need to do require some help from him (ex: getting clothes out of high storage in the garage). This one was his idea by the way!
How I use it: I type in as much of it as I can before I print it off on Sunday. Then I type in the basics for the next week and print that as well. I hang both of them on the fridge with a magnet clip. This paper has been all over the place this week. As I think of additional "to-do" items I add them, I also make notes for the next week's menu, to do's, schedule, whatever.
So, hopefully this was either helpful for you in putting together your own plan, or it gave you a good laugh. Either way, I'm looking forward to my next week- Geek and all.

OK, this might sound weird but your graphs are beautiful, and I love them. Unfortunately, I am unable to edit the PDFs. Do you have them in another format to send to me? Also, just wondering what PAX stands for... Great job!
ERIN! I want to be a Geek! Dude, I'm totally all about this. Way to go, my friend!
We should start a Geek Week support group. :)
