Homemade Uncrustables

My BFF had a fabulous idea- make homemade uncrustables. So she did, and I stole ummm... borrowed all of her knowledge and have been making my own as well. It's great to reach into the freezer for a quick lunch for the girls and know that it's still good for them as well.

There's one thing you have to have to make these- a sandwich maker. I borrow my sister's Pampered Chef sandwich maker, my BFF bought one off of E-bay for pretty cheap.

The nuts and bolts of what I do... (copied from my BFF!!)

1. Gather your stuff. I like to make mine with Kirkland Signature (KS) whole wheat bread, KS natural no-sugar added organic PB, and KS organic no-sugar added strawberry spread. But you can make yours with whatever ingredients your family loves.

2. Spread PB on both peices of bread (keeps the jam from leaking through). You don't have to spread it all the way to the edges- that's a waste of PB!

3. Put a dollop of jam on, no need to spread- it'll do that it self. Be careful not to put too much on or you get a soggy, messy sandwich.

4. Position the sandwich maker (the size is a near perfect match with the KS bread)

5. Punch out the sandwich- don't push too hard or you'll create holes in the sides and get a messy sandwich.

6. Put in freezable container. I put mine in zip top sandwich bags for easy grab and go. (it's not green... I know, I know.)

Info Break down:

One double loaf of KS bread
One jar of KS PB
+ 1/8 jar of KS strawberry spread

=

24 sandwiches for $0.30 each
