These are a few of our favorite toys

To go along with the favorite games post, I thought I'd share a few of our favorite toys. You might argue that they aren't toys. But I like to think they are, and the girls for sure consider them toys. If you feel sorry for my children after reading this post please feel free to buy them some toys!

WEDGiTS

The girls play with these over at my mom and dad's house. We don't have them here, but they are a HUGE hit. Emery (almost 3) loves them. Amelia (almost 7) loves them. My nieces Macie (8) and Jesselyn (10) love them. It's like a combination of Legos, Jenga, and tinker toys. You can follow patterns and build elaborate things or just make up your own tower. The WEDGiTS website describes all of the great educational benefits of this toy if you'd like to read about that. But it really boils down to this: they are just plain cool!

Block Buddies

Yes, this is similar to WEDGiTS. This is a toy we have at our house and it came from MindWare. Have I mentioned how much I love MindWare? Maybe they should start paying for ad space on this blog! Anyway- back to the buddies. Block Buddies consists of several different sizes, colors, and shapes that you can put together to make something. Again, you can follow a pattern or make up your own thing. Emery hasn't been into these as much as the other girls. Macie really loves this toy. I like to time her and see how fast she can put a pattern together. She can play with this toy for at least an hour and a half and not get bored!

Electronic Snap Kits

Yep, this is a nerd child toy. And it ROCKS! Our friends Jen and Jesse bought this toy for the girls and it's really cool. It's set up so that Amelia can build lots of different electrical circuits and see how different pieces work. She's made a speaker make noise, a fan spin, figured out how a switch works and learned a ton about electricity in the process. The circuit board is made up of snapping pieces so it's a snap to put together (I just couldn't resist that one) (Ha Ha I'm on a roll- for those of your familiar with electricity humor) OK OK- back on track. This is not a work alone toy- yet. I do think Amelia will be able to follow the patterns provided on her own pretty soon. But right now we have to sit down with her and play together.

For those of you seriously worried about our children at this point- YES we do have normal toys like Barbie, a play kitchen, Littlest Pet Shop, etc. But I'm guessing you have a lot of those toys already as well. So I thought I'd amuse you with some of our more off-beat things. If you have an off-beat toy you'd like to share type up a comment. I'd love to find some new and awesome things for the girls. Since they don't have enough already....

I think I want the "snap circuits, jr" toy! That looks way fun. BTW, just read your post about going back to work too. That's a big transistion after being home for a few years. I'm glad to hear you say you have a peace about it and know that's where God wants you. That certainly makes the change easier.
